If you would like to check out Gleason Glen Park for yourself you can find it at W 80 th Street & W Barth Road Lenexa, KS 66227Ĭheck out our entire Park & Playground Directory. The Merriam Community Center is committed to creating a welcoming and safe environment for all guests. Which made for a great short outing, if you need to get out of the house for a bit, but do not feel like spending all day somewhere this would be the perfect park to visit. We ended up spending about 45 minutes here before the boys were ready to go. They also have a trash and recycling bins conveniently located. There is also plenty of field area in the park that you could bring a blanket and have a picnic on the ground. They have one picnic table and it has its own shelter built over the top for shade. If you are looking for a park you can have a picnic in Gleason Glen would be a great spot. There are both normal swings and baby swings. In a separate section from the playground, are swings. Then there is a taller sidewinder style slide. This one would be great for the younger kids. Gleason Glen has really unique monkey bars they are wavy and a little more challenging than the classic ones. I think this was the favorite of my group that day. There are two climbing walls, one tall and one small. If I had to put an age to it I would say that kindergarten and up are really what ages will make the most out of this play area. This playground is tall and has some more advanced equipment. Now that you know all of that and how to prepare, this can be a really fun outing. There is no bathroom, no water fountain, and no parking lot, so plan accordingly before you make this park outing. Since this is a smaller park it also does not have all the amenities that a larger park would have. Something to be aware of if this park is in the middle of a neighborhood and it kind of looks like a private neighborhood park, but it is a Lenexa City park. We have had some larger park days lately and I thought it was time we gave the smaller parks some love too.
